Anti-Bullying Policy

Everyone has the right to come to Runnymede Swimming Club and enjoy sessions, Galas and Club activities without being afraid of being hurt by other people.

What is a Bully?

A bully is a person who makes life hard for others by deliberately picking on them for no reason.

It can be physically hurting someone.

It can be spreading rumours or leaving people out on purpose.

It can be name calling or laughing at people to make them feel silly.

But it can also simply be playing jokes on them.

How can we prevent bullying?

Tell someone as soon as possible. This could be your Coach/Teacher, a friend or your parents.

If you witness bullying report it – this is not telling tales.

Be honest and ask yourself if your own behaviour has caused others to be angry or upset with you.

If you are found to be a Bully

Anyone suspected of bullying will be asked to leave the pool immediately and the incident put on record.

You will be given the opportunity to explain your behaviour.

If necessary your parents will be informed and your place in the Squad/Club may be reconsidered.

As a Club we will:

  • Always listen to children and offer support.
  • Always follow up an incident.
  • Support both the child who is being bullied, and the bully to prevent the situation happening again.
