Runnymede at the 2014 Special Olympics

Three Runnymede SwimAbility swimmers – Kieran Neary, Charles Culwick and Scott Cleaver – are competing at the 2014 Special Olympics event in Antwerp (http://www.so2014.com/).

Last Monday, 8 September, they were invited to 10 Downing Street and then onto the Belgium Embassy as part of the GB Team .

Over the weekend we heard that both Kieran & Scott had got into the finals of their events having come 1st & 2nd in the heats with great personal best times. Since then we have had some updates and some fantastic PBs!

Kieran has gone on to win SILVER and BRONZE MEDALS in the 100m Backstroke and 100m Freestyle finals respectively.

Scott has won a SILVER MEDAL in the 400m Freestyle.

Charles achieved a fantastic 5th place in the 100m Backstroke.

Everybody at the club is so happy that the boys are doing fantastically well both for themselves and for the SO Great Britain team. We all want to wish them GOOD LUCK for their remaining events and look forward to seeing them back at the club on their return.
